Baby Shower Games and Prizes
Interaction 101: Baby Shower Games. What a great way to get the guests interacting! Baby shower games can also set a more casual tone to your party that will encourage conversation. There are a variety of baby shower games, and they can be tailored to fit just about any party theme. It is exciting to see how competitive your guests can get when it is all in good humor~ and everyone loves a little bling for winning a game.
By now, you have set your budget and planned your theme. Now you can tailor the baby shower games to your theme, gather items you need for the baby shower games and purchase prizes as your budget allows.
Once you have decided on your shower games, you will need to collect all the materials for them and purchase the prizes.
- TFT EXCLUSIVE Tip: Hi, Michele; CEO of Talk For Tots here to offer you a special tip on planning for your baby shower. I like organization, especially when I am in charge of an event. To help you organize your baby shower games, make use of large storage Ziploc® bags. For each shower game, collect all the necassary items for that game, including detailed instructions on how to play the game and put each game into its own Ziploc® bag. Clearly label the game on the white space on the outside of the bag with a Sharpie® and then group all the games along with the prizes for each together into a small to mid-sized tote. This organization method has a two-fold benefit: 1) games are handy, separate and easily accessible during your baby shower and 2) should the unthinkable happen to you as the hostess i.e. you become ill and can't be present at the shower, your "substitute" hostess will have everything neat and in order. Speaking from experience, your fill-in will be most appreciative that you planned ahead in this way!
The Big Prize. You can do a great prize and avoid typical cheesy prizes with a little bargain shopping and fore thought. Let's face it, cheesy prizes often times aren't used and can wind up as a regift or worse yet, a white elephant gift at the office Christmas party! (Side note: this actually happened to a friend of mine with an unwanted wedding gift. She regifted to the very gift giver for HER wedding present 2 weeks later with the original card in the box! Now that is embarrassing!) You don't have to settle for CHEESE, in fact, you can get some really nice prizes for very little $$ if you will spend some time bargain shopping. Here is a list of sites we like:
A Program Note: To minimize the Wrap-Up phase, consider handing out each prize as guests leave the event as opposed to handing prizes out at the end of each game. You make a prize list and mark the winner of the prize and then place them near the door with the list noting who won what. Most people will remember what they won and will take the prize as they leave the party. If they have forgotten which prize is thiers, they can check the list themselves as they leave. This way, everyone is sure to leave with prize in hand and a memory of a fun party! Happy Baby Shower!
